Guess what time it is, folks? Drumroll, please! It’s that magical time of the year when I officially declare a ceasefire against my overflowing inbox and chaotic calendar. After a year of sprinting ahead like a caffeinated squirrel, it’s finally time to hit the brakes. Some say there’s no such thing as a vacation in our industry, but I call their bluff! I’m outta here!
But not forever. December is when my daily routine shifts from “full throttle” to “coast mode.” Single parents aren’t clamoring for travel deals while jingling bells and sipping cocoa. Business travel takes a nap, and we all unite with our families.
So, why not follow my lead and press the snooze button on life? It’s time to recharge those batteries and face what appears to be a strong Wave Season in January.
Starting tomorrow, I’ll enter hibernation mode and return with my weekly wisdom (rants, inane ramblings, call them what you will) on January 8th. I’ll be armed and ready for whatever curveballs the travel industry throws.
Taking a break is my secret weapon, and I strongly recommend you hop on the relaxation train, too. During my hiatus, I will change my daily routine up–a lot:
- I declare my office “appointment only.” Because, let’s face it, spontaneous visits are so last year.
- I embrace the beauty of sleep—yes, I sleep in.
- Emails? Oh, those get a three-times-a-day VIP treatment, not a red-carpet instant response.
- I enlist a trusted frienemy to handle those “urgent” travel calls.
- “Me” time is my top priority—shopping, rendezvous with friends, and dining out.
- I channel my inner Marie Kondo to tidy my office, polish my desk, and create a new calendar because nothing says “fresh start” like a spotless desk (for at least an hour).
By the time the New Year rolls around, I’m ready to conquer the chaos.
So, I bid you farewell for now. May your holidays be safe and joyous. And here’s to a Happy New Year filled with adventures, laughter, and just the right amount of chaos.
Now it’s your turn—how do you tackle the R&R game at the end of the year? Share your tactics in a comment, and let’s toast to the art of unplugging!
