Blue-Roads Touring and Europe 2024

Blue-Roads Touring got its current name from a man who went on a journey of discovery across America. William Least Heat-Moon began this road trip in 1978, a road trip that would take him 13,000 miles along “blue roads” around the United States. Meaning, William traveled mostly on secondary roads, with the sights and sounds of local folk in his chronicled collection titled Blue Highways.

Fitting for Blue-Roads Touring to gravitate to this name, as they take the traveler beyond the more well-known areas and experiences typical of a destination.

Their tours are always capped off at 18 passengers, making the air-conditioned bus tours a chance to see the more “off-track” sights in comfort. These luxury vans are specifically designed to fit down narrow side streets and out-of-the-way roads, spots where larger tours can’t go.

ITALY - JUNE 23, 2014: Typical Italian street in a small provincial town of Tuscan, Italy, Europe

All of this leads up to their announcement of the 2024 adventures Blue-Roads have planned, adventures in Europe.

For example, The Emerald Isle, a 13-day guided tour that starts in Dublin and traverses a circle around the interior and coasts of Ireland. It takes the traveler to see the street art and political murals of Belfast, the strange columns of the Giant’s Causeway, the vast green surrounding Blarney Castle, and the natural wonder of the Cliffs of Moher.

In England, the county of Cornwall and its classic English countryside. Dartmoor National Park, St. Ives, Devon, and a start and end in cultured London. This peninsula is full of fishing villages and rural beauty.

In Italy, indulge in Italian class with a 13-day trip from Rome to Venice, with stops all around north Italy. Along the way, the traveler will learn how to cook a Tuscan meal (in the Tuscan countryside), join a truffle hunt—as well as beauty of serene lakes and the amazing cities of Rome and Venice.

They’ve also released more tours for around Britain, Portugal, Wales, Slovenia, Croatia, Malta, and more.

Travel to the landscapes of Europe has always answered the burning questions: Is Italy really that tantalizing to the senses, from the hearty local food to unrivaled vistas? Is the culinary scene in Portugal really that fresh and fantastic? Are Croatian coasts as extraordinary as images relay?

There’s only one way for a traveler to find out, and that’s a trip to realize that most of the fantastical recounts around traveling to Europe are true. Yet, to experience it firsthand in the luxury of small group tours and air-conditioning adds an entirely different atmosphere while traveling the lesser-known roads.
