Australis has been taking travelers to some of the most remote and sought-after views in the world since 1990, Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. At the southern tip of South America, these regions are famous for glaciers, fjords, subpolar forests, and fantastic marine and terrestrial wildlife. This includes the legendary Strait of Magellan, considered the most important natural passage between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The passage is only navigable by smaller vessels, like the Stella Australis and Ventus Australis. Another passage is the Beagle Channel to the south, which cuts across oceans at almost the very tip of South America, also navigable by both vessels.
The mighty glaciers and fjords throughout the area, particularly in Tierra del Fuego, offer a dramatic scenery that can be seen from their expedition ships as well.
Of course, the wildlife found in this region is a top draw. The diverse coastline of Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego offers a view of Magellanic penguins, while dolphins can be spotted playing along the coastal waters or near the ships. With some luck, some may also see and occasional whale and even orcas.
