Charles Dickens Dies

Charles Dickens is easily one of the most celebrated and widely-read authors in history. Writing during the Victorian Era in England, Dickens is best known for his imaginative stories and novels usually set in and around London; these include A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations, Oliver Twist, and A Christmas Carol.

Dying of a stroke at 58 years of age, Dickens was buried in the Poets' Corner at Westminster Abbey. Also buried there are Geoffrey Chaucer, Edmund Spenser and Alfred Tennyson. Dozens of well-known authors and poets, including William Shakespeare, are memorialized there in some way.
